Welcome to Inspiria, a brand new art gallery and performance space in the culturally rich neighborhood of Olneyville in Providence RI. Each month unveils a fresh residency with diverse visual artists and experiences. From wild debut nights to intimate artist talks, art classes, live music, fashion shows and immersive late night theater, our gallery is a vibrant hub that welcomes creatives and explorers from all walks of life. Operated by artists, for artists, we offer transformative experiences for all who come to play in our enchanting blackbox space.

Inspiria is a sanctuary for the bimbos, the gays, the noisemakers, the revolutionaries, and the weirdos. We are anti-gallery in practice, striving to crush red-tape elitism that robs our most creative communities from opportunities to showcase and celebrate their work.

We take an unorthodox approach to running our venue by being unabashedly high femme and DIY. We believe that being truly punk is to have a root in acts of care, from feeding each other to stocking up on harm reduction supplies, making decisions that ensure all artists get paid, and prioritizing collaboration over competition always. While we know that the concept of safety is up to the individual, we are dedicated to instilling a haven for our community with inclusive vibes, tasty treats, and a cozy atmosphere.

FAQs

  • We are sandwiched between Fete Music Hall and Dirt Palace in legendary Olneyville:
12 Library Court, Providence RI 02909

  • We operate in a shared space with multiple businesses and residencies. Our lot is reserved for staff and load in/load out only.

Street parking is free, and the Fete parking lot is available for $10.

DO NOT PARK AT THE FAMILY DOLLAR OR IN THE DIRT PALACE LOT. Inspiria is not responsible for your vehicle being towed.

  • We host free open hours to the public Thursdays - Sundays from noon - 4pm.
We will occasionally be closed for private events or large show prep, and will post that notice in our Instagram stories.
If you’re visiting from far away and want to double check before making the drive, feel free to send us a DM or email inspiriapvd@gmail.com

  • If you would like to book an event, please email us at inspiriapvd@gmail.com with your name, event concept, and suggested dates.

If you submitted a proposal to the google form, please be patient! We are a humble team of two wearing 10000 hats. Please note than we cannot guarantee that all applications will be accepted.

All public and private events will be charged a rental fee to be negotiated based on event size and production requirements. Unfortunately we’re unable to offer free bookings at this time.

  • Inspiria is a dry space. We offer seasonal craft mocktails, seltzers, soda, and coffee at our bar.

If you would like an alcoholic beverage, please visit our sister bar, Justine’s, just across the courtyard.

ALL PATRONS MUST FINISH THEIR DRINKS AT JUSTINE’S BEFORE RETURNING TO THE GALLERY.

If you absolutely must book an event that serves alcohol in the venue, we suggest contracting licensed and insured mobile bar.

  • Sure is! Each artist prices their own work, which they then label next to each piece. Most artists will additionally have prints available for sale. Cash, Venmo, or CashApp only.
Our monthly gallery opening parties are a fantastic opportunity to chat with each artist directly!

Outside of the opening reception, patrons are encouraged to visit during public gallery hours and can purchase work then, or during any of our shows.

  • We do not host all-ages shows at this time due to liability concerns and our teeny tiny staff. We encourage you to support other local DIY spots that do serve this need!

  • The Study and Lifestyle of Bimbo.

To be Bimbo (himbo, thembo) is to be radically inclusive of queer hyperfeminity, with a passion for aesthetics, sex positivity, and not taking oneself too seriously.

At Inspiria, it is a subversion of who society believes is worthy of running a business— an art gallery and performance venue, no less! We wear pink. We throw glitter on the floor on purpose. We celebrate cleavage and crop tops on ALL bodies. We are secretly literate and double secretly good at math, and use our bimbo power to move under the radar of what the suits think we’re capable of.

Bimbology creates an ecology of care and “yes” away from the leering eye of patriarchal control.

Bimbology is firmly rooted in ACAB practices and harm reduction.

  • Absolutely not!

We love our resident artists and put a lot of thought and intentionality into our selections each month. We are trusted to care for each piece, which includes maintaining visibility! Please work your event to be harmonious with the showcased art on the walls and not the other way around.
The only exception will be when we need to cover the walls for protection for a limited window. When that is the case, only the staff will be allowed to make adjustments.
Any damage caused by renters or outside productions will be the financial responsibility of said parties.

  • If you have not received an explicit invitation to be on a guestlist, then we thank you for your patronage of the arts with your purchase of a ticket. Your gift will help artists eat, pay their rent, put gas in their tank, pay for childcare, and seek medical attention when needed. It will also help the gallery pay our electric bill, gas bill, water bill, purchase operational supplies, pay our rent, and perhaps one day pay ourselves!

We also have a NOTAFLOF policy for in-house events for folks who otherwise cannot afford the cost of a ticket. We believe that redistribution of wealth allows everyone fair access. If you’ve got it, please share it <3

  • Creeps & Sam: A two-bimbo super operation.

Creeps is the gallery curator and doctor of aesthetics. (PhDb. Visual Art)

Sam is the booking manager and doctor of antics. (PhDb. Live Entertainment)

We have over 20 collective years of experience in arts and entertainment, as well as the service industry.

We base all of our decisions on budget allowance, available labor, building codes, insurance, risk assessment, years of personal and professional experience, and the prioritization of care and safety for our core team. We LOVE saying yes. Our “no” is never arbitrary.

We reserve the right to make executive decisions in an emergency for the health and wellbeing of our business. We are a DIY space. That comes with equal liberties and limitations.

We will not overextend ourselves to cater to the internal mismanagement of outside production teams and private event clients. We understand that sometimes “no” is hard to hear, but that’s showbiz, baby.

We invite all of our guests to conduct themselves with grace, kindness, and awareness while in our space. Because yes, we are the managers. And no, we don’t need to book you again— there’s already a waiting list of hopeful creatives we are eager to give space to.

  • NO. We are not owned or operated by Fete.

We own our business. We rent the room our business operates out of. That building is not Fete. It is a shared fabrication studio with other independent artists.

We are also friends with the building owner. And the managers of the surrounding businesses. And the tenants next door.

Please don’t name drop for favors. Just be cool and say hi. It’s a small town, we all know everyone.

Say hi!

We look forward to chatting with you! Please allow 2-7 business days for a response. We are v busy being hot.
